Weekly Artist: Emily Carr
I'm sorry this post is late, but last week's top voted Weekly Artist was Emily Carr!
Emily Carr
Emily Carr was a Canadian painter born on 1871. Her first masterpieces were based on the indigenous people of Canada (the natives, etc). Later on in her life, her paintings depicted forests, trees and landscape rather than the native indigenous people. She went to Europe in 1910, and visited France to study art. While there, she was influenced by Post-Impressionism and Modernism styles of art. She came back to British Columbia, Canada in 1912.
Here are a few beautiful examples of Emily Carr's artwork!

Totem Walk at Sitka, By Emily Carr |
This piece is quite interesting, as it represents some of her indigenous influenced art and combines it with the nature art she does later on in her era.
