Weekly Artist: Andy Warhol

Sorry I wasn't able to post this yesterday! I was a little busy and the day before my internet was down :(
Well the poll shows that our weekly artist is Andy Warhol!

Andy Warhol

Andy Warhol was a famous American Pop Artist in the 1960's. He was born on August 6, 1928. He was the main leader of the Pop Art movement. He's very famous for his ink print artworks of Campbell's Soup and Marilyn Monroe.
Even if you haven't heard of Andy Warhol, you might've seen these.

Interesting Facts


  • He was born as Andrew Warhola

  • He was the leader of the Pop Art Movement - Art Movements are basically when a certain type of becomes popular in a certain era (usually starts from a group of artists) and that type of Art becomes the art trend

  • He suffered Sydenham's Chorea, a sickness, at age 7

  • Andy Warhol was lucky during his Elementary years and was able to take free art classes on Saturdays at the Carnegie Institute
  • He started dying his hair gray at age 20 so that people would realize his face looked abnormally young
  • Valerie Solanas had attempted murder on Andy Warhol in 1968. His liver, stomach, lungs and spleen and esophagus were all damaged.
  • He was also an Actor

  1. Fascinating! I think I've seen his self portraits with four pictures all different colors, similar ink print style.
