Sketch: Ancient Greece
I'm not so sure what I was drawing, I just let my hand flow freely but I guess it looks like some sort of Ancient Greek or Roman lady. This took forever, and I think it kind of looked better without the color, because I didn't really color it in effectively so it kind of lost some of the realism it had before I colored it in. I'm still learning how to color while maintaining the shades and details.
I was about to color this in with water colors, but I decided to use pencil instead, because before I colored this I tested out the water colors on paper and the paper started to wrinkle. I recommend using thicker paper for water colors and not using regular sheets like this one.
By the ways, my friend gave me the idea of choosing an online drawing and copying it, then posting a comparison of my work and the one online. I'll be posting something like that soon!

Beautiful! Do you have any advice or tips? I have a question about technique, how do you fix mistakes while you're in the middle of drawing a piece like this? Also, what did you use to color it? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI improved the eyes a bit along with the cheeks so I'll be posting an updated photo of that drawing tomorrow :-)
