Piece: Realistic Eye Drawing

Hey guys! I came back from Malaysia this Sunday, sorry for not posting for so long! I have to catch up with my drawings so I decided to post about an realistic eye attempt I did.

I actually already did this piece three weeks ago, but it's one of my favorite drawings I've done so I really wanted to show it to you guys.

This was originally for an eye contest my friend and I found on Instagram, but I wanted to do it as well for a challenge, to try realism out. I added to the challenge by trying not using any references. + I USED CHARCOAL!

Materials:
-Charcoal (Dark)
-Sketchbook Paper
-Eraser
-Q-tip

My Eye Drawing!

So I started out drawing the eye the first day, added shading and effects the following day and the day after. The final day, just to perfect, I searched a photo of a real eye to see if there are important parts I missed and yes... I missed the eyelid (facepalm), so I had to add that as well. I'm not sure if that counts as a reference to you but that's all I really did with the eye photo, I didn't copy off of it or get ideas. I wanted this realistic piece to be 100% original (: not like the anime.

I admit I could've improved on the eyelashes and the shape of the eye. If you compare this to other drawings, it's not really realistic. It may be very detailed, and there is a lot depth to it, but if it had better shape like a real eye, it would've been perfect by my standards. (:
